We have ice!!!!

Well, I am at home today with the kiddos because of all of the ice and stuff....which is nice! The roads are clear but I chose to stay home with the kids and Sal went to work. We had lost power on Monday night but it came back on as we were pulling out of the driveway. I got to work and get a call from Sal that the power had went out again!!! arrgggh!!! But long story short, the power came back on and we got to stay here last night..thank goodness! I was praying really hard that we didn't have another disaster like ice storm of 2000. So as I sit here in my pj's at 1:30 in the afternoon, I am guessing that it might be time for me to jump in the shower and brush my teeth! I don't get many days like today..so I am enjoying it!!!

Mother/Son basketball camp

Sunday night was a really great night. Our church group (Nightwing) decided to do a fundraiser for moms and their sons. Since we did a Father/Daughter Dance late last year, we thought it would be fun to do another one. So we contacted Josh Newman at UAFS (head coach) and he was immediately on board with us. He is a member of our church and was very excited and full of ideas.
The camp started at 6:30pm and it was fun from the get go! We were taught some drills and then we had to teach our boys. Brady kept saying, "I already know this"...like I was an idiot or something! :) Josh put together some games where we did some shots against other mom/son teams..then us moms played our boys and then the real show started. First, it was the boys against the players and then it was us moms against these very tall college players...but there was one thing they had to do before we started the game. Josh brought out some tape and they had to tape their shooting arm behind them!!! It was hilarious! I think in the end, they still beat us! We all had such a good time. Afterwards, we had pizza and desserts and the players even signed the boys shirts. This was a really fun night! Brady told me on the way home, "thanks mommy for tonight'...awwww!

Thanks to all the UAFS Lions for making this such a special night!!

Facebook has sucked me in!!

I joined Facebook and now I am addicted! It is so fun to hear from old friends from school. Anyone who really knows me, knows how important my family AND friends are to me. Ruthie always says that I am her connection to the Fort Smith area..I try to keep everyone in the loop with each other. So now Facebook is helping me with that. I was probably the last one of my friends to join. I really hope I don't start neglecting this blog...:) I promise ( as I raise my right hand) to keep this updated and continue to add pics of me and our family! :)

SURPRISE!!!!!

Guess what I came home too tonight? I picked up the kids, was talking on the phone (imagine that) to Charla, walk into my kitchen and there was a brand new computer!!!! The new HP Touchsmart!! The monitor is 22 inches and it is like a huge ipod!!! So now I can make my blog really nice and add some really cool stuff to it! It has a built in webcam and everything is wireless...no bulky tower..that is built into the screen too! Awesome! I am really super excited!!
For now, the computer is on our buffet table until we get a new desk. We have a computer armoire but this type of computer can't be closed up. So for now, it will stay put until we can get a new desk and make our little office space efficient! Also, I can now work from home if I needed too. So that is really exciting. No more feeling guilty about leaving the kids with my inlaws because I have so much to get done at work...I can now stay home with the kids (if they are too sick for school) and still get my work done. Thanks Sal for our new family toy!

My Resolutions..

It seems like every year I will make some resolutions...some obtainable...some, not so much. Maybe the new year brings us hope to start over again..to forget mistakes of the past year or to get the chance to do something that we didn't get to....Who came up with 'The New Year's Resolution thing anyway? For years, I can remember I would promise myself that I would make time to sit down and read a good book...just try and squeeze in some time to do that....never happened. I have had 'Twilight' on my nightstand for 2 months...
Last year, my resolution was to NOT make a resolution!! Yay! I stuck with that one! So this year, I decided to make a list and maybe I could actually do some of them. Some are no brainers and they are ones that everyone should try to do. The other ones will take more effort on my part. So here they are:
-go to church EVERY Sunday or at least Sunday night
-be more patient with my kids
-be a better wife, mother, daughter and friend
-call more instead of texting...we all need to hear a voice every now and then. :)
-start walking consistently...I need Michelle to have that baby so I have someone there to push and motivate me!! The new VS catalogue just came...too many cute swim suits NOT to get motivated!
-sit down and read more to my kids
-and take more time for me...whether it be going for a walk or whatever...I am no good to anyone unless I am good to myself...right? :)
-have more date nights with Sal...
-save more money and stay on budget
-surround myself only with positive people
*** I am sure there are many more that I could list but I won't...can't wait to see what everyone else's resolutions are for 2009*****

HAPPY 2009!!!

Our New Year's Eve was good this year! Sal, me and the kids ate dinner at my inlaws and then the kids stayed the night with them. Trav and Tiff met us at our house and we went to our first stop. The Underwood's had a party and there were alot of people from our church. This was a good time. They had a bartender and karoake going! And it was also Chris Fitzgerald's birthday!

Then we went over to Mary's house for our final destination. There were quite a few people there. We had snacks and some drinks and played a game...I will not share the game or the names that people were during this game!! ha!!! :) thanks Mary and Josh for a great time!
